Default Is this balancer right??

I bought http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-C2501/ for my 2000 Vette. I noticed that the AC belt fits on it right. But the serpentine belt is not as wide as the front pulley. The webpage and tech support said it's made to fit several vehicles and the extra space won't hurt. Is that right? I'm confused.

Good idea. But I'm scheduled to install it at 9:00 this morning. Now I'm not sure it will work.

I put that exact one on mine a couple years ago. Works just fine. There are two more grooves for the belt but some guys upgrade to the 8 rib when adding a Super Charger so I figured it couldn't hurt and I may need it some day.

I'm not sure it's any special deal over others though but it looks pretty good on the car.

Thanks SMaster, that's what I needed to hear. We started working on it at 9am and finally got the old balancer off at 4pm. It definitely needed replacement. I skipped a few steps that I didn't think I'd need and had to go back and do them later. That ate up a lot of time. But we learned a lot. Also discovered I need new tie rod ends soon.

We'll be back at it tomorrow at 9am when the shop opens. Gotta get the new balancer installed and everything buttoned up quickly so I can get to the beach!

When you are through put a mark on the bolt and balancer. Checking it once in a while will give you piece of mind about the bolt backing out. I've read many cases of it here and was the only thing I worried about.

Also, because I just read about it in another thread, make sure you don't turn your steering wheel while it's unhooked. It screws the spring up for the air bag.

Got the new balancer installed first thing yesterday morning. Got the rack back in place with no problem, ABS bracket and power steering pump and alternator all went in too. Learned that the power steering bracket goes on much easier if you remove the reservoir. Then you can get to that last bolt.

Torqued everything to spec, filled the fluids and fired her up. No leaks and she's running great! Idling very smooth. Thanks to everyone for their help!
