Default Memory buttons question

Sometimes, I will get in my 98 C5 and the seat will begin to move and I will notice that the #2 memory button is flashing. I usually just punch #1 and get back to normal. Anybody know why it seems to default to 2 instead of 1??? I have easy entry feature turned off. Seems to happen about 50% of the time.
Thanks......

Are you using different key fobs to unlock the car or the same one all the time?

Obviously your car likes the #2 driver better than you.

All kidding aside, just reprogram the #2 setting for your setting and all will be good again.

I have #2 programmed for my wife but I guess I could make her #3 and program 1 & 2 for mine.
I was just wondering if there was a setting somewhere I had missed.
Thanks

PS: I have really enjoyed this forum !!! It is full of great people an tons of good information.

If the problem occurs only after you unlock with the key fob,
try retraining your key fobs again to see if that helps.

Having the Easy Entry feature turned off, will prevent the driver's seat from retracting when you remove the key. The memory settings for the driver's seat position are still enabled, and they're determined by which memory button is pushed by the driver.

It sounds like you are using fob#2 or the second one that was programmed, to unlock the car with. The first fob programmed becomes fob#1. As suggested, re-memorize the fobs and somehow identify which is yours.

If both key fobs are the originals, the individual numbers for #1 and #2 are molded into the back side of their plastic cases.

This is certainly true for the C-6 fobs but for my C-5, there was no numbering on the fobs but mine was a '99. Later years in the C-5 line numbered?

ditto for my 99. no numbers on the fob. mine does the same thing once in a while and i am associating it with a loose wire somewhere. not really a problem so i am not getting into it! only because i rarely know what i am doing

I'm glad it worked for you. If it re-occurs, try putting a fresh battery in your key fob.
