I started out to fix a leak that I discovered after a strong rain. I searched the forum and found all the usual suspects and cleaned them (udders) and then retested. When I used my hose on the bottom, I discovered the source. The water came in around the seat bolts. Here is a picture and close up of the bolt in the front. You can see some of the sealant is missing. I think it was a manufacturing defect and has always been there. I have had the vett for two years
Here is a closer view. Three of the four bolts had the same condition.
Here is a view of the floor mat and you can see there are several water marks.
I have added sealant to all openings and will retest.
While working on the leak I took the front wheel off and found the stablizer links were worn out. Here is a picture of the old one and a new one I got from Gene Cully GM parts house
Here is a close up of the worn arm
Picture of installed arm
You will need a Torx 40 to remove the old arm as the bolt will spin on the nut. You also need a 8mm socket to install the new ones.
My 98 vett has 90K miles and would squeak when I was on rough roads. I also have to replace the rear arms but they do not appear to be as worn.
That's odd, I didn't need a torx to remove mine, was a bolt (13mm I think). The 98 has chitty plastic ones anyway, best you changed the front and do the rears asap. If you want some decent handling on the car, get the C6Z51 sway bar.
