Default Reverse Light Switch issues?

Hey guys. I've searched and searched on this matter, but can't find anything. Recently, I took a shot at replacing my reverse light switch on my Coupe. Now, this is gonna make me sound like a complete idiot, but I had a ratchet wrench on the switch and turned it (Yes, loosening it...not tightening) for what seemed like forever. And it never got any looser. Would this typically mean that something has gone awry on the side of the switch that i can't see (i.e. inside the trans)? There is a bit of resistance when turning the wrench, but it should have gotten loose. And it didn't. I'm confused.

Not sure I understand. The assembly simply unscrews from the tranny. Is the whole assembly turning..and are you sure you are removing the correct switch? Sorry to ask, but which way are you turning it?

Yea, the whole assembly is turning. I'm turning to the left, loosening it. Its not reverse threaded is it? Doesn't make any sense. And i am on the correct switch.

Maybe I'll give it another shot.

I just replaced mine with no issues. I used a 7/8 box wrench. I slipped it over switch to base and loosened little at a time until it was out. It does take a bit because of the lack of space for turns.
