Default Calif smog test info?

Hi, Last time i took my corvette in for a smog check out here in calif was on 7-29-08..

Well now i have to do it again..ok the only thing i worry about, is that back then when i went and had it done the (NO PPM) reading were High to me like 236 at 15mph and 77 at 25 mph..Now since then i have not put more than about 2,000 miles on it.

And i know with the NO PPM that high they always say its the cats.well i cant afford to buy new cats at this time..And i have to get it tested soon.. So is their any thing that i can buy at the store for now that might lower this reading?

If you know any thing i can try that is not dumb..pleas let me know ok..And yes since then i have done new wire's and plugs, And a oil change, and that was all done in the last few months. Some feed back on this would be so nice.

Thanks dbiddle.

I don't have an answer to your query but what about taking it in for a pre-test. If it passes you are out just the cost of an extra test. If it fails you know where you stand but aren't in the system just yet and can make the only the necessary corrections.

Converters don't last forever, but pretty close. If you do need to replace converters you might find some off a car that's being parted out.

I see you have a 2002. Cats are covered under warranty for 8 yrs/80k miles per Federal standards, and I'm reading on LS1 forum that in 2006, (not starting with 06 models) that GM bumped it up to 10 years/120k miles. Some dealers will want to stick to the 8/80- but tell them about the LS1 (F Bodies got the notices of the extended warranties from what I read, but seemed to be all LS1s)

Also, run your car semi hard for about 30 minutes before going in, get on a freeway or best thing is to climb some hills if you have any near you. It gets the cats good and hot, they test better. Had a tech tell me this on our 96 bmw after pre testing-had me leave his shop, go cruise up the local hills, climb and punch it as much as possible for 1/2 hour- came back and it passed.
