Need FIX for creaking windows...
I suspect this is a lube problem, not an adjustment or loose fastener issue. Maybe silcone dry spray in the right place will do the trick. But I forget...does it do it when it's wet? I haven't checked, but that might be a clue for a fix. Otherwise, I'm not gonna mess with it. It doesn't do it while driving, only when opening the door or wiggling the window.
I have a policy to NEVER go into a door unless the window is BROKEN. It's never the same after you take a door's virginity!!!
Window when fully up could be moved in and out with door open, felt 'loose' and there was a noticeable gap between the window and outside rubber seal at the top of the door.
If this sounds familiar you may want to try this:
Remove the door panel per
http://www.momentsoflight.com/sunsetvette/mods_wc.html
Once door panel is off, with the window in the up position, notice the
front up and down track mechanism, at the top of the front track is the
source of the creak.
The top of the track is attached to the top of the inside of the door with a stud and nut. Loosen the nut, install a 1/8" piece of neophene between the track mount and the fiberglass.
I cut a 1 1/4" diameter circle of neophene, then made a slot about 1/4" wide to the center, so it would slip into place without removing the stud.
Tighten nut snuggly.
I then removed the black sticky cover over the opening below and
lubed the up and down track lightly with graphite.
Not as hard as it sounds, and the lack of the 'creaking' sound is a daily reward.

Thanks for that excellent write up. I just might give this a try. It sounds about right.
But ain't there some way of doing what you described WITHOUT removing the door panel? :cry  :cry  :cry  :D :D :D I HATE to remove door panels!!!!
Door panel must come off to access the nut and stud. It really is not hard to remove the panel. Use a putty knife around the panel edges per the link I provided and just take your time. Panel removal is about 5 minutes, exploring the mystery of the things in the door is unlimited, the squeak fix about 5 minutes and panel back in 5 minutes. Easy for a Mech. Eng. :seeya

Yeah, I know...that dang panel has to come off. And I realize it's easy........but I just HHAATTEE :mad taking door panels off. Seems like it always results in either a rattle or an air leak onto my left elbow or something!!
I'd rather pull a tranny than a door panel. :jester
But again, your info sounds like the solution. In fact, your method should be captured in the Tech Tips.
Come on, you started all this, give it a try and let us know if it worked for you. It's good therapy.

I guess you are right. I am responsible for all of this. :jester Guess I'll make it one of my weekend projects coming up. I'll post back with results. Thanks for all the help. :D
