Hey everyone. Both windows on my hardtop have begun making noise when you open and close the door. They seem worse since I took the car to the body shop. They didn't have to remove the door, so I am not sure why that is the case. Maybe one of the techs hit the door getting in and out??? Anyway, is there a way to tighten the glass? I remember a post a while back about adjusting the window to tip in or out. Not sure if that would be helpful in may case. Anybody out there done it, or is it time for a dealer visit (gonna go for an alignment anyway)? Thanks all!
You are definetly not the only one with this problem. I have the exact same problem on the driver side. The passenger window is OK as it does not get used a much. It does bug me quite a bit, but I don't think there is any way to fix it. Sorry I am no help :nonod:
Hi all,
Viprklr, Is it the window that rattles or something inside the door vibrating against the glass? If you go into the door panel(take it off) and look at the window assembly inside, there is a cable which can rub/rattle against the glass when opening/closing the door. I used a cable tie to secure it inside to the door frame, away from the glass, and it seemed to help. I also have this problem of rattly windows, though!
Re: Need FIX for creaking windows... (Blackjetvette97)
It's almost as if the windows have worked their way loose and have some play in them where they're mounted to the window rail. I guess we could take a door panel off and look?

My thoughts exactly! I have the same problem. I can replicate the noise by grapping the top rear corner of the glass with the door open and moving it in and out.
If anyone is brave enough to tear their car apart and find a fix that would be cool! I'll keep this post alive so that somebody out there who has done it (hopefully) can chime in. :yesnod:
My driver window makes a strong click or tick sound right when the door is opened. It sounds like some play in the glass position. It only started recently and has become very annoying.

I had the same problem! It was like the window was loose. So this is what I did and it took care of that problem... There is a red reflector lens on the lower part of the door. Take a small flat head screwdriver and pop it off from underneath. The you will find a 10mm nut,try thightning that nut and your noise will be all gone :D
My driver side window glass on my 1999 C5 has been making a "knocking" noise when it moves. You can gently rock the top of the glass and it makes the noise.
