Anyone got any ideas on why I only get cool air out of the two passenger vents and passenger side defrost vent? Just ambient temp air comes out of the driver side and center vent when the A/C is on.
If you turn the heat on then heat comes out of all vents like normal, but when A/C is on only out of the left side vents... Im stumped but im sure its something simple. Flow also changes when I select bottom vents, etc like normal.

I have the same exact problem. Hopefully someone will help us out here.
You've got 2 choices, Actuator problem, (check for codes), or low on Refrigerant. Do a search for this problem, must have been discused 100 times before.
Well it's ice cold on the right so doubt it's low.. I'll check for codes
I know its very strange to have the cold air on the pass side and be low on refridgerant but let me assure you that it's completely possible and inherent to the design of the vettes a/c system. I have personally been through this issue so let me try to explain how it happens. The low level of freon can still have just enough energy as it enters the evaporator to create a cooling effect on the first half of the evaporator but it's energy is not strong enough to cool the entire thing. So think of half of the evaporator getting cold and the other half basically not being affected because the refridgerant has lost all it's energy due to the low level. Now consider that the passenger side vents are taking air from the first half of the evaporator and the drivers side vents are getting the ambient temp air from the second half of the evaporator that has not become chilled.
I wrestled with this idea for awhile until I hooked up my gauges and added freon until I got about 290 psi on the high side and whadda ya know, ice cold air on the drivers side to go along with the cold air on the passenger side - believe it.

No, 290 psig at approximately 2000 rpm (servicing a/c at idle can be frustrating). but that was for my ambient temp and humidity. Hot and humid. For reference, if you have a 90 degree F day and 80% humidity, at idle you should have about 225 psig on the high side. If you rev it up to around 2000 rpm the pressure will go up. If you don't think its the freon level go ahead and put a new actuator in like I did, then when you still have the same problem add the freon. Those are the only two causes of the simultanious warm/cold condition.

Yea I have the same problem. Got any ideas yet of what it is?
Well I haven't taken down the system yet, will probably do that soon though.. I mean if its low, then its low for a reason of course so I want to find the reason instead of just masking the problem. This is all great information and thanks for the help.
I am having the same prob.... I am told its low on refridgerent also, even though I had it checked and I was told its was fine, I have to believe its low on freon, cause i am told this system is finiky and can be to high one way and to low the other and it can cause this problem..... I will try to add some freon and see what happens......
