Slid it partially out the passenger wheel well. Had to take the brake control braket loose and out. Took the sway bar loose, left the end links attached. Twisted the rack so the gear shaft faced near vertical, worked it around the loosened steering cooler, and slid it and rotated it some more such that the steering gear shaft pointed forwards of the car and out it came. What a mess. It was leaking heavily out the boots I think going in will be pretty easy now that I see how it came out.
Its almost in, but it won't line up and drop into the brackets on the frame. Pretty sure my neighbors are tired of me swearing in the garage for the last 3 hours trying to get that piece of poorly designed fecking shet contraption back into place. The engineer at GM that put this together can go **** himself and die a slow death from squirrel aids. I could have swapped engines in my Buick in the time it has taken me to attempt to reinstall this one part. I'll try again tomorrow.
The bushing on the passenger side of the rack has a tendency to fold back on itself and makes it impossible to side the rack all the way into the mounting ear. You have to feel on the back side to make sure it has started in. Putting the passenger side in before the drivers side makes it easier.

Thanks! I'll try that. I was trying to put the drivers side in first, but its a bear.
The trick I did was slide it past the mounts to the driver side, then persuaded it gently back to the passenger side lining up the holes. Snapped it all back together and I had the alignment almost perfect, toed out 1* on the driver side but perfect otherwise according to an optical alignment at my buddy's shop. I measured and centered the rack before putting in and voila, piece of cake.
