My car (98 coupe w/long tube headers) started running rough and throwing codes showing a bad front oxygen sensor on the passenger side. It also started drinking gas like a Hummer.
I crawled under and checked and found that the connector had came in contact with the header at some point and totally melted one side down to the wire.
I tried to jerry rig it enough to get it fixed correctly.
I figure I will just buy a new sensor for that plug but does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the other plug?
Is it possible to buy a new connector or plug? Of so where?
I don't recall the company name but there is a company from which the plugs can be installed. I know someone who does know and will shoot him an e-mail just in case you don't get any other leads. I take it you need the one on the harness.

yes, the harness, actually both but I am willing to buy a new sensor to get that plug,
I saw on at auction site one that more of a universal type that you had to cut your harness and connect theirs with butt connectors. So I am wondering if it would be feasibly to just buy some good connectors and try that temporally till I can get it replaced with the correct connectors.
The car is my daily driver and gets over 100 miles a day.
I have my laptop hooked up and running scanning software so I can watch the output of the sensor and I know it works sometimes but 75% of the time it reads 0.
The laptop also allows me to reset the code as soon as it pops up which for some reason allows the car to not run as rich for a while.
Casper Electronics. You could also check the parts for sale, if someone is parting a car maybe they can cut the connector off the harness for you with a few inches of wire so you can splice it in.

Perhaps I've misunderstood, but the O2 sensor (harness side) connectors are available in a pigtail assembly. AC-Delco part numbers: PT368, and PT919.
I'm confused. I provided you a solution in post #4.
I do not know how I missed that {brainfart?}, Thanks for posting it. I did bookmark it for future reference,
I But I am thinking this may still work out better for a couple reasons,
1. I need a littke extra wire because there is not much room to route the originals without being close to the headers at the connections. and a extra foot of wire would fix that problem.
2. I really need both plugs and was just going to buy a new O2 sensor to get that one.
By using the extension I get both plugs, extra wire, and I can get one on the auction site for under $20 shipped which is cheaper the the new O2
I did jerryrig it enough to work till I can fix it correctly but my temp fix will not last long.

I guess it all depends on how many splices you want..8 or 16..(if you do both sensor 1 & 2).
The pigtails come with at least 12 inches of wire on them(for the harness side)...I doubt you'll end up with that much if you cut the extension in half.
the rear O2's have been turned off and there is no where to install them at the moment.
The problem is the the passenger side one got into the header and melted both plugs, the one on the sensor and the one on the harness.
it only burned down to one wire so I did a little jerry rigging on that one and got it working.
It will not last. I could just splice it good and wrap it in heat shield tape but I really need a bit more wire to be able to route it away from the headers safely, if I just replace the connectors I may have the same thing happen again.
I think my best bet is to buy the extension and and use cut it and make good splices then wrap them in heatshrink tubing and then in heat reflecting tape. That way if the sensor needs replaced in the future I can just unplug it and replace it and plug the new one in.
