I just raced my 2000 corvette from light to light a VW bug. You know the one I mean. It had the exuast that was way too big and sounded too loud, the huge rear spoiler, ground kit etc. Anyway he pulls up next to me at the light and startes to rev, i laugh. Light turns green and I get the jump, halfway through he comes speeding right next to me. We were dead even hitting the next light. How can that be possible. What did he have. :boxing
Ha Ha......that car (and many others) with a big aftermarket turbo & maybe a little spray can be made to run high 7's in the 1/8th & low 12's in the 1/4! for a pretty low$.....remember it has the Porsche heritage!
not funny, I raced a VW at the track, he beat me  in front of a lot of people :( not fun  If you have money and determination, anything can be made to go fast :smash:
Last year a Datsun kicked my butt, he had a 1.67 60' time, 1/8 was 7.96 and ran the 1/4 in 12.58, no juice. Hope to see him again one day. I know he had some kind of a Turbo! He brought it in on a trailer.
Ennis occasionally has "Bug Night" every so often. One night a few years ago, we were there and watched a large number of full-bodied Bugs going high 10's and low 11's. One even had ladder bars on the rear and was running 10'0s! Kind of like having the HP to weight ratio of a Bullet Bike. You know how fast those dudes are!
That is why you should be always cautious of who you street race. They are out there trying to embarrass you. Like my son, when he use to go on the prowl in his 351W/C4 powered 1978 Fairmont with a lumpy cam and turndowns. Guys would pull up next to him and not think anything of it. A couple of blips on the throttle that would vibrate the asphalt under the car next to him and most would back off. Those that did not would see his backlights soon. Always was the most fun when you went up against $70-80K BMW's and other types of high dollar cars. BTW, his Fairmont was gutted on the inside with only one seat and panels made of thin aluminum in place of the normal inside heavy steel panels. Weight means speed at the top end!
We have lot´s of damn fast Volkswagen and Ricers here.
No one beat me, yet, but I always have the NOS switch ready.
Don´t laugh at any car that lines up with you at the light!!.........
at least not bevore you won!!!
I sometimes have FORDs with 90 bhp engines lining up with me and revving the engine, thease guys I also don´t take sirious.....but my wife beside me laughs the most and turns up the stereo.
