What is the part number for the correct LS6 intake??
Thanks for all the insight!!
Part number is 88894339. You can get it new from Gene Culley at www, gmpartshouse for about $500.00. They usually go for around $300.00 in the Parts for Sale section.
To me the price is not worth it. And I am gonna be running my Trex cam from Thunder Racing in my Z06 and they (the owner) told me that the FAST is pointless he said the LS6 intake will do the job fine. For $300.00 vs $800.00 ill stick with my LS6 until I go FI! And with the money I saved by not getting a FAST intake I now have my Wet Shot!
But we are talking about the OPs car.
Most guys that do bolt ons dont stop there. There are plenty of used 90/90 set ups where he can pick one up in the $600 price range.
When you look at it from a price and HP gain perspective, The used 90/90 set up is a better option than a new LS6 manifold if you can swing the expense. Instead of gaining 8-10 RWHP you'll gain 18-20 RWHP.
Will the LS6 work for your needs, it sure will. Will the 90/90 save you money and time in the long run, I think so.
Again, this one does not have the MAP housing on the back of the manifold and cannot be fitted with one. You MUST have one from a Corvette in order to work properly. There are plenty out there. You just have to create a WANTED post in the C5 parts section. I also agree that most people will eventually do more mods and you will most likely benefit from going straight to the fast 90 or 92 system. You can use an LS2 90mm Throttle body with a $20 adapter.
Again, this one does not have the MAP housing on the back of the manifold and cannot be fitted with one.
This is incorrect. If you look at the picture you can clearly see the MAP housing with sensor on the back side of the manifold. The write up also states it comes with the MAP housing and sensor. The only thing you can not use is the throttle body (f body style).
Im going to be selling my ported ls6 manifold and tb off of an 02 zo6 here in the next few weeks if you're interested. I can do 350 plus shipping. I also have the stock 28.8lb injectors for sale.
Most people will say that porting an ls6 manifold doesn't pick up any power but I went ahead and did it when I put heads on my car while it was off. Just FYI
You will alway be wanting the extra 10-15hp the FAST gives you. Do you know how many times each LS6 intake has to change hands?
People buy the LS6 and then know they are leaving power on the table and end up with the FAST anyways. Ive learned to do things once, and do it right the first time. It saves both time ad money.
The best bang for the buck is clearly the LS6 intake.
If you decide you just have to have a larger Throttle Body down the road, TPIS can put a 90mm throat on the LS6 intake. I still have the LS6 intake and TB with all of the bolt-ons and it's fine. On the other hand, I have a FAST 92 on my F-Body and for the money, I'm not that impressed. Also, the MAP sensor fit in the FAST is pretty crappy, and you need to make sure you put locktite on the screws that hold the upper and lower sections of the FAST together.
The F-Body LS6 intake and the Z06 Ls6 intake are interchangeable. If you do a search on some other sites, there have been flow tests done on the LS6 castings and one does flow better than the others.
make sure the manifold is post-2000 and a LS6--be sure to get a catch can as well to keep the oily mist out of the manifold - plenty of cheap ones (like mine!!) all the way up to the nice billet ones in many colors.
