Default Air Conditioning problem

First 3 pages of search results didn't help so here goes:

My AC exterior temp display is reading crazy low. Today it read 2 degrees F.....in So Cal. It was about 85 outside.

I'm sure it's probably connected but one other condition: When I press the AC button the light flashes a few times and then remains off. The ac doesn't stay on (blow cold air) but the blower itself continues to blow air.

Any suggestions? It's getting toasty out so I'm hoping this is a very easy fix. Fingers crossed. Thanks for any help.

I had a similiar problem in the shop this last week but with a neon. The ambient air temp sensor was damaged in an accident, and without it the A/C would not turn on. Once the ambient air temp sensor was replaced A/C worked just fine. You may have a similiar issue, the flashing on the A/C normally means that there is a fault, but very possibly caused by your ambient air temp condition, if it was working fine just previously.

Based on what the A/C controller "thinks" the temp is, it will not let you operate the A/C. I would start by inspecting the outside air temp sensor connector for corrosion, voltage, and resistance to ground.

Any codes?

Thanks guys...this JUST started all of a sudden. It's still reading an outside temp, just way off. I'll track down the location of the sensor and see if I can fix this myself. Again, thanks for the quick responses. Any others are, of course, welcome.

What happens when you turn on the windshield defrost but have the temp set to the coldest setting? Does the compressor operate? If it works at -20 it should work for you when the display says 2 degrees.

Default AC Control Panel - All LEDs on Help

The other day I replaced the battery in my 2003 vette and 4 days later while driving with the air on all the lights on the AC control buttons came on and stay on until the air is off. Anyone see this type of issue? Is this some sort of error code ... low on refrigerant or something?
