Default Seat Memory

I have a 2001 coupe MN6 with the seat memory option. I can program the seat location. However when I set it up for easy access the seat moves back when I shut down the motor but when I get back in the car the seat doesn't go back to the #1 programmed position. Sometimes it doesn't move at all and sometimes it starts moving but doesn't make it back to the #1 stored position. If I press the #1 button it does go there.

Is it some sort of sensor?

Try this:

Run your seat thru all if it ranges of travel a couple of times. Also do this to your mirrors. I had a simular issue on my Zo6 and this eliminated the issue. Cant say it s forsure fix but it sure wont hurt to try

Your car does not know if you are #1 or #2 unless you use the remote to unlock or press the appropriate memory button when you get in. It does not automatically go to a preset when you put the key in without the appropriate instruction.

On my 03 for the memory recall to function you must lock the car with the remote.

When you unlock with the remote and re-enter it will then recall the memory settings when you insert the ignition key.

Default Thanks

That's what it was. I have to depress the remote button for it to know who I am. It doesn't work when I'm getting in and out of the car when it's unlocked.

I also agree with Bill C.'s suggestion of running the seats and mirrors through their range of motions. I had read this in another post some time ago. I have a situation going on now where even when the system knows which driver is in the car, the seat and steering column acts strangely. When I put the key in the ignition they both come part way back to my preferred position. However I have to actually start the car for them to come fully back to the correct position. Seems to me it ought make the adjustment only once to my preferred position. It did some time back but is acting crazy of late. I have a Mn6 so I need to depress the clutch to be able to start the car. Currently the seat does NOT come forward far enough for me to fully depress the clutch to be able to start it without me sliding forward. I'm going to try Bill's suggestion to see if it helps.
Mine has been doing the exact same thing lately. Moving part way up and then finishing after I start it. Same problem here as mine is MN6 also. I do have long legs though. I have found that if you hit the memory button again it will go the rest of the way.

After you get the seat/mirrors set how you want them, hold down the memory button on the door panel until the light blinks/turns solid.Very similar to setting a radio preset.

When all else fails read the manual that (should have) come with your car.

Thanks going out to try it now.

Wish I had a manual car didn't come with one.

My DS mirror points up and out every time I get in the car. no matter how many times I reset it. Any ideas on that?

I found the seat memory on my 99 a PITA so I programmed it off. I was always worried that it would fail and get stuck in the full back position.

all that, plus, don't forget to check the back of your key fob to see that you program the correct memory button. if the fob is #1 use #1 memory button, etc. if you mix it up it will drive you crazy and you'll think the car is possesed. don't ask me how i know.:o
