Every since I owned my vette about 2.5 years, It has leaked a few very small spots of oil. I also have had an oil gauge not working. I decided to fix the oil pressure sending unit (only after finding a phenomonal post on this site how to do it).
After removing the manifold, I noticed a blob of oil residue coming from the existing oil pressure sending unit. Turns out the old pos had cracked somehow and was allowing just enough oil to bleed through and drip on my garage floor.
I purchased the new part at a chevy dealer (GM # 12616646) and installed the new part. also installed new gasket set on intake manifold (25.00) Works perfect and fixed oil leak. DO NOT purchase this part at any dealership. I paid 90.00 dollars for this part (AC Delco) E bay has half a dozen of these in the same package, same brand, for 30 dollars including shipping.
If you have not found the forum w/ pictures keep searching this guy took some great pictures. It took me about 4 or 5 hours but it was raining outside so I just took my time.
I had heard that is was a waste of time, because they don't last long. I was assuming that it was a "off" brand that was going bad. My cousin owns a mechanic shop and changed one out for a mutual friend and his is still working after a few months. I thought I would try it. I cared more about that oil leak!

That would have been the wrong assumption sir. There is plenty of history on this forum, with regard to the GM sensors going bad immediately after replacement.
