Friday Morning I was driving and my ABS activated for a second going 40mph and scared me half to death It was only throwing the C1282 H C after the event and was saying Service Active Handling and Vehicle Soon. Now I have 6 codes showing up on the DTC.....
C1282 H C
C1284 H C
C1285 H C
C1287 H C
C1288 H C
C1296 H C
Regardless of what Murphy's law says I know theres no way in LLEH that so many sensor's went bad at once. I'm an Electrical Engineer so my first thought with this car was the electrical gremlins. I've already cleaned out the G-101 and G-102, and especially after cleaning G-102 I thought I had fixed it. But when i try and reset the codes its goes away but come RIGHT back. I'm just looking for some pointers, maybe i'm overlooking or missed something.
For example, which ground does the Traction Control System use, b\c I am aware there are 13 grounds , already cleaned 2 ?
... your "steering sensor" may need replacement. Try the "Search" function using "steering sensor" & see what the Forum experts (on this subject) say....but, you may just have to let that Chevy Place handle this one..
Thanks trussme, I have been reading up on the subject of the ABS and Active handling issues and feel as though i'm starting to read the same thing over and over on this forum. I don't understand why but it seems like there have been alot of recent ABS/TCS/AH issues, summer heat possibly?
I have no doubt you know what your talking about since i see your name in about every thread involving this issue, so i'm not hesitant to ask this technical question.
As I read in post 4 http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-handling.html the yaw sensor goes through a series of tests b4 displaying an error on the DTC, I will assume that the reason that mine is displayed is #3. The yaw rate input voltage is less than 0.15 volts or greater than 4.85 volts for 1 second. I assume this b/c with so many sensors "going bad" at the same time there must be something common between them so therefore I assume voltage since they would most likely share the same wiring harness.
So my questions are, am I correct in assuming this? And second, which sensor would have to go bad to cause a cascading error like this?
And lastly if I had limited access to a Tech 2 scanner what would I be looking/testing for, since i am unfamiliar with them? Would the problem jump out at me?
Thanks everyone, thought i'd give an update on the situation. I rechecked the grounds and lost a multimeter in process (left it on the intake which was still hot). I ended up taking off the EBCM and getting a rubber mallet and giving it some "mechanical agitation" and then reconnecting it. The codes were still there afterwards but the morning after the problem was gone. Cleared the codes and everything seems to be in the green now
I'm not sure if you have read the sticky at the top of this page in the "Ultimate DIY thread". Lots of great info on the ABS/Active handling. Don't worry it will be back throwing codes soon enough.
