Default AC warm on driver side cold pass side

My AC works correctly intermittently. Now it is warm on the driver side and cold on the passenger side. The temperature control for the driver side seems to do nothing, but if i turn it up it will get HOT (not great this time of the year in Florida). It used to work better, but has had this problem for the past few days.
I don't know if this is related, but i just changed out my battery a few days ago too.
Where should i start?
Thanks for any help, this site has been a GREAT help with a couple of other problems i have faced.

Turn the "AC splitter" (don't know it's real name) dial on the AC panel to the left?

Check for HVAC codes on the DIC, then check the following:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...actuators.html
http://vette.tnreeds.com/actuator/actuator.htm

I tried to index my actuator but it wasn't getting signal/power from the head unit so I manually turned the flap to cold setting, tossed the actuator in the parts pile, and put it all back together. I will replace it when I get a new/fix my climate control display. For heat I just turn both sides to heat and put it on cabin circulation mode and it works like it did before.

In Florida I can live without the heat but the A/C is mandatory!

Careful with the freon fix... check for DIC codes. If there are codes in your HVAC memory, freon isn't the issue. The blend door actuators are notorious for either crapping out or needing the gears to be "reindexed" so they will open and close the doors properly. I'm in the process of doing my driver's side today on my 98.

even with no codes the accuator is suspect? ... i tend to think my problem is some leak, as now both sides blow hot air. I know the compressor is kicking in. Do these things leak from a common point? I hope this isnt a rule violation by posting in an existing discussion
