Default nitrous??? need details please

hey guys i would like to do a nitrous setup for my car. what are some complete kits that are budget friendly probably under $800 but are safe as well. should i go wet or dry? which is easier? would i be able to do it myself or have a shop install. i am pretty mechanically inclined and do all the work to my car myself. but unsure about nitrous. thank you

LS1Tech has a lot of info on Nitrous and various installation options.

I have read a lot of the threads there and came up with what would work for my application.

It cost a bit more than $800 though - closer to $1200.

I have a friend with a wet kit for sale for $600 (I think) complete kit with accessories - used

I have another friend with a 78mm dry plate kit w/ interface from Harris Speed Works. You would need some accessories to go with this kit though. $550 he is asking. It is brand new.

Good luck with your goals.

I went with the Harris Speed Works dry kit with the interface and the all out accessory kit with the Microedge controller.
Other options I am adding are a wideband A/F gauge and a few other little things.

This is not a kit you can install in an afternoon.

I can jet from 50 to 125 hp, but (because it is a dry kit) I need upgraded injectors to go above 75. I have included my 42 lb injectors in the $1200 stated above.

I have specific goals and reasons why I went with nitrous. If you just want more power, I'd get a performance camshaft installed.

I do all the work myself (with friends) but I leave the tuning to Doug at ECS.

There are basically 2 systems:

1) Dry system (this is really only for Fuel Injected cars) allows for low HP boosts 25-100. This assumes you have enough fuel pump and injectors to flow enough fuel for the Nitrous you inject.

2) Wet systems add Nitrous AND Fuel-these are for higher HP boosts and are SAFER since your adding fuel, your chances of running lean are greatly reduced.

The cheap systems generally do not have pressure guages, bottle heaters and blow off valves. A "decent" system with all the goodies will be $1200-1400.
