I was told by the local performance shopp that bad things happen with gaskets on the ls1 for some reason. They suggested I use copper RTV on the head and the header and no problems will arise. It has only been a couple of weeks but it is holding strong.

Perhaps I should have clarified saying that they were referring to the junk graphite gaskets usually supplied by the header manufacturer. I asked what they used and they said the stockers are ok but are more expensive and they usually go for the copper RTV. They said they have never had a sealing problem using it whereas they had several blowouts on graphites.
Making a suggestion like that is far from making them a shop to avoid.

i suppose but i wouldn't want to clean that mess up if i took my headers off. If something is worth doing its worth doing correctly even if it is a bit more expensive.
