Default need help separating engine from tourque tube

2000 A4. Removing engine from top. All unbolted but won't come out more than an inch. I removed the three bolts from the flexplate to the flywheel. Is that all there is?

What to do to unstick coupling?

Assume you took out the torque tube to bell housing bolts.

There is a harness that is attached to the torque tube and a bell housing bolt. You need to take out the bell housing bolt that is right behind the passenger side head.

All sneaky bellhousing bolts removed. Engine is 1" away from bellhousing all the way around. I have the service manual DVD and nowhere does it talk about the connection to from the flywheel to the tube. Just want to make sure I an not missing something.

Loosen the propeller shaft hub clamp bolt (1). Rotate the engine at the flywheel, if necessary for alignment.

Many thanks. I thought the flywheel seperated from the flex plate to come apart.

Should the spline be in exactly the same position in relation to the hub when reinstalled (exactly the two splines that were connected befor?)

Just mark it, then you won't have to worry about it!

You're not suppose to remove the spline from the flex plate according to the GM manual.

Don't see a reason why you would have too.

Just unbolt the locking bolt that holds the TT drive spline and it will slide right out.

I simply loosened the clamp and slid the tt back and out. When I put it back in, I didn't orient it in any particular way with respect to the spline. I did follow the sm's procedure to run it with the clamp loose for several minutes to let it find center before the final torqueing.
