I just installed a stock LS1 motor that I got from a good friend into another friend's vette. when you first crank the car up and its cold the motor has piston slap. Ive heard of this and I know that its nothing to worry about, but Im trying to put my friend's mind at ease. Can someone chime in here..
I have a 2002 suburban with a 5.3L that has slap at cold start. 175,000 miles later, it's still doing the same thing...running STRONG. Burns a 1/2 qt between oil changes, and I don't baby it.
Hasn't caused me any trouble at all, other then minor concern until I finally realized that it should see 250 ~ 300 thousand miles easy if not more.
If it gets the point where it doesn't go away after warm up, then I'd be concerned.
