A/C Gremlin - Help Please!
First time...when I hit the A/C button, I got nothing, the light on the button would blink & turn off and the compressor wouldn't come on...I was told the charge was low and had the system re-charged.
Second time...they thought it was a leak, so a dye was added to the
system and it was re-charged.
Third time...couldn't find any leaks from the dye...added a "stop leak" to the system and recharged.
Each time the A/C worked for a week or two and then only warm air...I no longer have the button problem first noted. I was told the last time that it could be a bad evaporator that is located under the dashboard and would cost $1,000 to replace!
Anybody have any ideas....I have read some other posts about the A/C actuator and the error codes, which I am going to look into tomorrow...just wondering what else there might be hiding in there. Thanks,
If indeed the system charge is getting low, and they can't find the leak anywhere in the engine compartment, the leak may be in the part under the dash. Before I paid $1000 for them to go looking, I would buy a UV light and look around myself.
This is a prime example of why I don't like taking my car to someone else. They don't know any more than I do and when they are playing guessing games, it costs a fortune in labor.
