I just got back from a quick cruise in my car. I took it out, and was driving it slowly, watching the oil temp rise. After about 3-5 minutes (oil temp was about 80 degrees) the check engine light came on. I scrolled through the info to see if anything was wrong. Oil pressure was at 42 and solid as a rock. Coolant and oil temp were approaching their usual range. Voltage was normal. I kept driving for a few minutes to let it completly warm up, then pulled over, shut it down for a few minutes, and started it back up, but the light remained. I checked the oil level, and it was fine. The only modification I have done to the car is a halltech sidewinder, but I have had it for several months and never gotten a check engine light. The car was recently serviced by my dealer. It began popping out of reverse, so they had it for a week or so to repair the transmission. Is it probably thatthe check engine light could be from something they did? Also, is there an easy way to get it to read out the error code to me? My old Intrepid could blink the codes out through the check engine light, which made it easy to diagnose before taking it to the dealer.
I'm going on a two week vacation tomorrow, and I know this is going to be gnawing at me the whole time I'm away. It's just a check engine light, but it bugs me. Anyway, I guess I just want to know if there's anything else I could check, and if there's a way I can get the codes. It'd be nice to know what the problem is before I go to the dealer, and have them tell me it's from the intake or something like that. Thanks for any info or advice, and sorry for the drawn out description.

Re: Need help with check engine light... (LymanSS)
I'm not positive that this is it but, you might want to double check your connection on your MAF sensor, since you probably unplugged it during the Sidewinder install.
