Default easy oil change for c5

If you have a steep driveway, here is an easy way to change oil on your c5 without ramps.

Back your car into the driveway so that the rear of the car is on the high point. The front air dam will literally be about a mm from the pavement. This allows the oil to drain properly.

Then, center the oil pan over the transition between the steep driveway angle and the flat road.

Now you have a great crawl space to get under the car and drain the oil / pull the filter.

Pretty cool. Most chicks would never think of changing their own oil.

Use the ramps. It's the only way YOU can get under there.

Great idea but I prefer the safety of ramps or jackstands. Good thinking though.

The hard part is backing your car up a STEEP driveway. You may have to angle the car to avoid scraping the curved underside of the rear.

I've been using the method from a previous post where I put the car up on Rhino ramps, open the drain plug, and after about 20 minutes I jack the back of the car up above the front height and let it drain another 20 minutes. Supposedly this is the way to make sure you get all the old oil out.

I've been wondering if Rhino ramps work with a lowered C5? Lowered with factory adjustments only. Do the ramps want to move on you when you try to drive up on them?
Thank you

WOTTOGO. My ramps wanted to slide because my garage floor is smooth. I put in a couple of 1/4-20 anchors into the concrete and install a couple of allen head bolts that the ramps slide over. When I am done, I remove the bolt. Mike

I actually learned this from another member and have not tried it yet, but it seems to make perfect sense.

Just put towels down on the floor so that the ramps sit on the towels and the tires are also on the towels before they start up the ramps. Use just one towel on each side.

Here is how to put the towels under the ramps. I also use 2x6s so that the airdam soes not rub that much. My car is standard height.
