Stuck Window Motor Problem
I tried slamming the door, banging on the door panel, etc. but still no worky.
I read Bill's excellent Electrical Problem thread and checked my door connectors and insulated the bare wire (looks like in came from the factory that way), but to no avail.
I finally removed the door panel and peeled back the water barrier membrane to tap on the window motor with a hammer while holding the switch and Eureka! It starts working again.
I understand it is the motor jambing against the stop that causes this. My questions are; Can this be lubricated? Would that help? Am I looking at eventually replacing the motor?
Thanks all! Great information here.
The passenger window came loose from the regulator and wouldn't go up/down. I couldn't find a DIY for the complete dismantling of the door, so I used the one DIY I could find that tells about removing the door panel. From there I muddled through getting the glass out and removing the regulator/motor assy.
Turned out nothing was broken (one of the two bolts that hold the glass in place had come loose), so I put it all back together.
When finished, the window operated with the passenger up/down button, but not the driver's side unit. WTF?
Then, the next day it worked fine. Serendipity!
It's been fine for the last week. Go figure.
If you check the Parts for Sale section, search "window regulator", you'll find them several for sale. They include the motor.
