Default Ti Exhaust install

I think I read that on a automatic C5 you have to cut the stock exhaust to get the pipe from over the axle. Is this true? And does that mean I will have to cut a Z06 Ti axle back to install. If so where is the best place to cut and how to attach it and seal would be my next question? Thanks.

You do not need to cut the exhaust. You just need to get the rear high enough to slide the old exhaust out and put the new in (FYI - most jacks will not raise the rear high enough).

You don't need to cut anything.

However... You need to angle the exhaust to install it in such a way that the car needs to be lifted high. Go to a muffler shop or tuner to properly lift the car. Its really dangerous to try to do this in your garage.

Most aftermarket cat back exhausts are 2+ pieces so that you can install them easily in your garage.... It give your more adjust-ability too.

and if one tries this at home... removing the rear wheels can help a person to see & position things better.

I took a LT1 out the bottom on my Camaro in my garage...but if I can get access to a lift I would jump on the chance for this. Thanks for the info.

I removed mines and ended up cutting them on the straight section because i didnt have enough height to manever them.. so if u get the height safely you should be good. Ironically when i got my Bullits they were cut in the same location so i guess right...

For automatics, on the right side, you need to remove a heat shield and unbolt two brackets on the sway bar to get the cat back out or in.
