Default Check engine light Help!

after leaving my interior light on from friday night, I found that my car was tottally dead. I could not even use the fob to open the doors. It took awhile to jump the car. I tried it right away and nothing just some clicking. After awhile I tried it again, and it tried to turn over, but nothing, just a message on the dic that read reduced engine power. So I finally tried it again after 15 mins of charging from my Durango (the only time I was glad I had a dodge in 2 years) the car finally started. the reduced engine light went off, and now I had the check engine light. WTF is that all about? What do you guys think it is? Also how do I pull the codes to check what it is? I drove the car and it felt and seemed allright which is a huge relief. Also on friday I noticed that I lost power in my auxiliry outlet. My v1 and my phone charger wouldnt work. I just did have the Mti pulley installed. Could that have done it? What could it be? Thanx guys. I apreciate any input you have. :)

Attempting to start the car with an almost totally discharged battery will set all kind of random error codes.
What really happens is that during cranking, several circuits which should be on , can't come on because the battery voltage just drops below a level to activate these circuits.
All computers will reset due to insufficient power and can't read crucial sensors anymore.

I wouldn't worry. Once the battery is fully charged again and after an X-number of start cycles, the check engine light will also go off.

Oh, to read trouble codes, do a search for DTC codes. There have been numerous posts about this.

Hope this helps

Roger

Thanx Roger I hope that you are right about the light going off. I apreciate your input. It's such a relief. How about the aux outlet that has no power still? What the hell could that be from?

The aux power outlet gets its power from fuse F1 in the fuse box under the passenger footwell. If I remember correctly , it is a 15 Amp fuse. (yellow)
Spare fuses are in the fusebox under the hood. Also you'll find there a fuse-puller. The inside of the fusebox cover shows the layout of the fuses.

Mine went out several weeks ago due to some metal part getting in the aux power outlet. So check for metal in the aux outlet before replacing the fuse.

Hope this helps

Roger
