Racing tires that have passed D.O.T. requirements but have reduced tread depth and compounds designed for racing. Due to the reduced tread depth these tires should be used on dry pavement only and are not suitable for normal highway use.
I am not sure they really make cheater slicks any more. The DOT legal tires that I have used (BFG, Hoosier, Kumho and Goodyear) all have more tread than the old drag racing cheater slicks ( a series of long dashes in the surface of the tire about 3/16 deep). The Goodyears are probably the closest. The ones I had (GSCS) had just enough tread that you could barely see and feel it and after about 4 laps it was completely gone.

Re: Cheater Slicks (Bill Dearborn)
The closest thing to cheater slicks out there right now for the C5 would be bias ply Et streets in 26x11.5x16 which have the same type of wrinkle walls as regular slicks:D. This are just like slicks but with the BS DOT approved minimal treads, etc. Problem is will need 16 inch rims and i will be mounting mine on f body rims for the drags in the near future. Other options are L98 rims or if you have the $ CCW in Florida offes beautiful rims to fit the Mickey Thompson Et streets with skinnies in front:D Next season, after i get away from this double mortgage crap i am currently dealing with i will probably go that route.
I forgot where I bought my ET Streets, but do an online search, and I'm sure you'll find them. I bought 26x11.5x16's. If I remember correctly, they cost somewhere between $129.00 and $159.00 each. I used 16", 86 Vette rims and had to grind the hell out of the upper A arm to get them to fit. I also had to grind just a bit on the bottom arm. If you're up to that, spray some flat black paint on the arm, install the wheel and try to turn. You'll see where you'll have to grind when you take the wheel back off as it will have rubbed the paint off.
You can get some used rims in the C4 parts for sale section. They should run you anywhere between $50.00 and $100.00 each depending on the condition.
Better yet, if you have the cash, call John at CCW. He'll hook you up with rims and tires that will fit without grinding!! I believe John is one of the Forum Vendors.
Good luck to you! The ET Streets will dramatically drop your 60 foot times. :smash: Eric
