Yes unless you want to add a big cam later then a 3200 or 3600 stall is needed I have a 2800 stall and 3:42 gear And its a huge differance now I Have a Gm hot cam kit and longtubes that are waiting for winter install.

If you are going to the trouble of installing 3.42s, also install a good hi stall conv while your car is apart. I would go with the Yank SS3200 or Yank SS3600. A good stall and gears are the best bang for the buck on an A4 excluding nitrous.
