I had a vehicle with similar problem. Under hard acceleration and about 4K RPM, the shifter would vibrate and make contact with the torque tube. Found out it was the TT bushings coming apart. That is where I would start.

Thanks, was it mid/high pitched hum? Did it happen in all gears?
02Z, at track day missed shift, before that there had been some noise.
Then, in 3rd-6th, lots of noise as throttle applied. None on decel or at steady speed. Can hear / feel through shifter.
Local trans guy said it was trans.
R & R with used trans, supposedly 22k miles.
Same noise on re-install. In my mind it can't be trans, chances of same sound / problem slim, but symptoms do no indicate diff or torque tube.
Thought?
To help identify which component is the issue, first rev the engine with clutch pedal fully depressed (disengaged) and see if you feel the vibration. If you do, it is clutch or engine related. Next, put the trans in neutral and rev the engine with the clutch pedal fully out (engaged). If you feel the vibration, it could be something to do with the propshaft, if not, it could be the trans, diff, or one of the cv joints on the output shafts.
