Default Removing third brake light assembly

I need to pull the high brake or third brake light. The shop manual says unplug and unscrew the two screws. Easy enough.

But wait, there's more. For the life of me, I cannot tell what type of fastner is there. Not a Torx screw. Can't determine groves for phillips or whatever. Appears to be smooth. Even tough to figure if it is a socket type. WTF.

Anybody know what it is and how to remove? Thanks ahead of time.

Thanks! I'm guessing a 6mm since my smallest 8mm was too big. Oh well, off to Lowe's for a small set of those puppies.

I need to inspect the coupling. I was installing the flasher unit from WCC. It went in, with some pressure, but the brake lot doesn't work. Need to check to see if the prongs were bent or whatever. Otherwise, got a bad unit sent to me.

Onward. Again, thanks!

My metric socket set goes all the way to 4mm.
