Default Dynolicious

O.K., I know it's kinda cheezy sounding, but I bought this Iphone app called Dynolicious. It works like a gtech. I've read mixed reviews, but for $12.00 I figured I try it out. My Iphone has a hard case, so I used double stick tape and attached it to the console cover for a good and solid mount. I have basically no drag strip experience and was wondering a couple things. I've got my dyno sheet that shows within 5rwhp the same results. I can't launch worth a flip and the 2.3 second 60 shows it, but with a 116 mph trap speed, what's a realistic 1/4 potential for this car?

Here are the results using 3525 for vehicle weight with driver (I'm 240):

0-10 MPH: 0.72 sec
0-20 MPH: 1.44 sec
0-30 MPH: 2.13 sec
0-40 MPH: 2.78 sec
0-50 MPH: 3.85 sec
0-60 MPH: 4.71 sec
0-70 MPH: 6.03 sec
0-80 MPH: 7.17 sec
0-90 MPH: 8.38 sec
0-100 MPH: 10.26 sec

Elapsed Time

60': 2.30 sec @ 31.6 MPH
330': 5.76 sec @ 65.7 MPH
1/8 mi: 8.56 sec @ 88.6 MPH
1000': 10.93 sec @ 104.5 MPH
1/4 mi: 12.91 sec @ 116.4 MPH

Max Acceleration: 0.78 G's
Peak Horsepower: 387 HP

You have at least a low 12 or high 11 second potential by the looks of your trap speed and looking at your mods.. The fact that its hot and humid does not help either.. You need to work on your 60 foot time.. Thats key.. Sticky tires help too.. Practice,Practice Practice.. Take it to the track in October when its cooler and dry and I'm willing to bet you can run a high 11@118mph

Thanks for the info! I've been real happy with the performance of the car. What with the new ones running so quick, I've been curious as to how mine would stack up to one. I know I'm a tad heavier, but with the mods and gears that should more than make up for it. Probably more of a driver's race than anything.

I've always felt the RWHP dyno number was low for my mods (390). What with the 4.10 and all, I'd think it should read closer to 400-410.

What do you think?

Hmmm. Your numbers do seem a little low. What kind of dyno did you get the numbers from? If it was from a Mustang dyno, they read lower than the common Dynojet dyno's.

The trap speed from the program is most likely too high. The program uses instantaneous speed, where the track averages it over the last 100' or something like that. The program could also average it, but I doubt it.

It was a dynojet. I've used the same tuner/dyno for consistency purposes. I've always felt the numbers were 15-25 or so conservative, but they were consistent, so I've continued to use the some one as I've added more mods.

I've seen posts here with the same heads/headers/gears, but with 224/228 cam posting 430+ rwhp numbers. I just don't see that there would be 40 hp difference between the cams. From a 220/220 to a 224/228? I went from the stock cam to my current cam with long tubes and picked up 45hp. That's a 197/198 cam to a 220/220, a huge difference in cams. Moving from a 220/220 to a 224/228 should be 10-15hp I would think.

Dont' worry about dyno#'s. Take her to the track and have a go at it. It's a ton of fun and safer than racing on the street!

Just remember...

have 2000 coupe: kooks headers,3.42 gears, cnc'd heads,218/224 cam,yank ss3600 high stall converter - runs 11.83 in the quarter - sixty foot time is 1.67 secs. -M/T drag radials w/ 15 psi.
I think you should be in the high 11's but the 60' time is hurting you - so the 12 plus time probably is not inaccurate.

Actually the trap speed is right on the money for that weight and RWHP assuming "average" air quality (say 1000 feet above sea level type DA)

And the fact his ET is way off is obviously attributed to a poor 60 foot time which is going to be the norm on the street (not a properly prepped surface to launch on), especially if we are talking standard radial tires.

I would be interested in seeing how this program does when compared to actual track times. Easy to check.....just set it up prior to your run at the track. I did exactly that with my G-Tech "Pro" awhile back and learned in short order it wasn't very accurate and more disappointing was it wasn't very consistent either which made it useless as a toy or a tuning tool if your trying to check improvement in trap speeds.

Seems the numbers your getting from this ridiculously named GPS based software are pretty close.....get to the track now and see how well it repeats and how close to real world results it actually gives you....that would be very interesting IMO

Thanks Tony! and everyone else as well. I have one more question:

This is the dyno sheet that I got with the last group of mods that included the AFR 205 heads, FAST 92 and ls2 90mm TB. I've attached the sheet. I know dyno's vary, but doesn't this sound 20-25HP low? Have a look at the mods in my signature and let me know your opinions.
