Default Cats increasing interior heat?

I had to put cats on the car for inspection and just recently noticed it seems the center consol is getting a LOT hotter than it used to. Turning the air on completely eliminates any heat coming from the center consol area. Is it the cats that are generating all this extra heat? Is there a way to beat the heat other than just taking the cats back off?

The cats will retain heat and the tunnel will get hot, esp. when it's 90 out and you're stuck in traffic...just ask me! I'll be doing the tunnel insulation mod soon...it's posted somewhere on the forum. Suppose to work good.

Thanks, I'll look into that. The heat now is beyond ridiculous. If that doesn’t work I’ll just take the cats off again.

I run the HF cats as well and yes insulating the tunnel cuts down on the heat in the console area. You can buy it on ebay. I used the DEI floor and tunnel shield 48"x21"
$50). Comes in different sizes. You will have some left over so I also wraped my starter
housing where the headers are real close. I also used it to insulate the 02 wires from getting burned by the headers. You will have to take the cats and xpipe back out of the car to install though. I won't say it will eliminate all of the heat but you will notice a huge difference.

Yep, they sure do. A properly functioning cat should increase ~150* from the front to the rear of the cat... Heat blankets and header wrap will help a good ammount.
