Non stock converters with a 3000rpm will take more gas to get
going but should have harder shifts. Have you had a tune??
That may help.

I have a Vigilante 2800 stall. Car is louder as RPMs are higher to maintain speed till the converter locks up. Doesn't really fell loose per se, just slightly sluggish. The torque reduction feature was turned off before I got my stall and shifts were very fast and a tad harsh with the stock converter. The stall softened the shifts a bit just a my tuner said they would. It is almost as if the looser stall "cushions' the shift. That has been my experience. I would guess that what you are feeling is normal. Just my .02.

Yank SS3600 converter - shifts are positive but not harsh - this may be a function of the tuner

There is a little "slop" when applying the gas but not a great deal - car will "creep" at 750 rpms

wife drives it and notices nothing unusual -- the ultimate test!!!!

Yank SS3200 here with 3.73 gears and full dynotune for the converter and other mods. Drives nearly like stock until the hammer is dropped then hang on. The car shifts firmly at light throttle and very sharp with minimal to full throttle. I love it! Sounds very cool when it goes into the next gear.
