back to oil,, how many miles should i run the car before an oil change?
how to reset the oil life counter?
You can trust the DIC oil life monitor before changing oil/filter. Most will change at about 10% remaining, but you can safely wait until 0%.
The easiest manner to change the oil life monitor is to turn key to "on" without starting the car, then pump the gas pedal three times. It should change promptly.

All of this is in the manual.
Change according to the OLM, once per year or 15K miles, whichever comes first. The earlier C5s had a 10K mile limit. Not sure what year it changed. I usually dumped 7 qts in my cars. Despite what worry warts say the extra half quart doesn't hurt anything.

Bill
I keep the other 1/2 qt. on the shelf for topping off later.
