Default Safety/Equipment issue after new pad & rotor installation...

Got the car back from the tech after the installation of Hawk HPS pads and Brake Performance drilled/slotted rotors that have the black coating. When I look at the rotors, the rears are black with a nice, burnished silver firepath across the face of the rotor.

The issue is with the front rotors. Because the car stops fine (better than with stock hardware) I didn't notice anything until visual inspection. The front rotors have a worn firepath that appears only about 1/4 as wide as it should. In other words it appears as if the brake pad contact with the rotor is only along the top inch or so of the front pads. Issue is with both driver's and passenger's side front brakes. In other words, even though the rotors in the rear are substantially smaller, the surface area coming into contact with the pad is substantially larger (hope I explained that simply enough).

I don't have the old rotors to check their firepath/contact areas and see if this was a long-standing issue and I just never noticed until these particular rotors made the contact pattern so obvious. Seems like only having 50% of the front pads making contact with the rotor surface is a major safety issue.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated as I'm stuck until Monday on being able to return to the shop and I'd like to be armed with some info when I get there. Thanks in advance guys...
