Default Reduced Engine Power

Hello All!

It's happened again and again...

My husband cleaned all the grounds a few months ago following the guidance posted in the sticky.

It happens more often when I get in and the seat adjusts for me. I'm only 5'3" so the seat has a long way to go. It rarely happens when my husband drives but it does happen. He's 6 foot so the seat only moves a little.

My husband disconnected the seat in my position yesterday to see if that might be the cause. No troubles yet. Could there be a short somewhere in the seat causing the reduced engine?

The codes that it throws when it happens are 1516, 1571, and 1287.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Michelle

What letters are in front of the codes? The Seats has it's own codes (SCM) and Traction control has it's own too (TCS I think)

Default Update

Hello All,

Since disconnecting the seat, I haven't had any problems at all.
No reduced engine power or codes of any kind.

So.........Monday night my husband reconnects the seat.

Can you guess what happened Tuesday? Yep, you're right, same codes came up with reduced engine power.

So.........last night my husband disconnected the control module for the seat and checked all wires and nothing seems to be wrong.

.....now we wait.....so far there have been no codes.

Hopefully we will figure it out soon.

If you've got any ideas, let us know.

Thanks,
Michelle

The seat wiring harness connector has a Class II serial buss wire in it. If the class II female pin or wires are damaged or the 12 VDC power wires are damaged, it can and will cause your issues. Remove the seat carefully and inspect the female pins and MAKE SURE that they are not spread open. If they dont make good tight contact with the male pin, thats your issue.

Bill- I'm curious why/how does a problem with wiring/connections on the seat translate to DTC's being posted related to the TAC and TCS?

All those modules are common connected by the Class II Serial Data Bus. The SEAT MODULE plug is close to the carpet and is easily damaged. It gets wet, drug across the carpet, collides with stuff crammed under the seat etc..... It get LOTS of damage. Ive see connectors cracked, wires yanked out and corrosion so bad it was green.

So,,,, it can short out or corrupt the serial buss and when that happened, a number of random errors and problems can occur.

The door power plugs are susceptible to female FEMALE PIN spreading. When the female pins spread, it causes havoc with the door control module and some how that corrupts the serial data buss. Have not figured out exactly what goes wrong but you can bet your boots thats the issue.
