Low Oil Pressure Intermittently
I have a '98 with 198,000 and yesterday the oil pressure was up and down for about 5 miles of driving at 45 to 50 mph. The only other problem I have had with this car was the oil pressure sending unit which has been replaced now 3 times. I beleive it to be an issue with the oil pump. My question is, I have a lift and all the tools I need; do I need to pull the steering rake off to change out the oil pump?

Sounds to me like you are missing the most important tool....... a service manual

Thanks for the input this morning. Well, my mindset is the pump needs replacement; any suggestions from the forum as to what I should purchase. The tear down starts tomorrow and looks like a rental will be needed for Carlisle this year.

With that many miles, a stock pump seems like an obvious choice.

I would also suggest a new timing chain and harmonic damper if the stock ones are still in place.

I was already going to replace the timing chain; thanks for the confirmation. But I did not consider the harmonic............looks like I'll be busy.

Not anymore busy than if you just changed the pump.....it all has to come apart anyway..
