Default 6 speed trans removal help!

i am trying to pull the 6 speed trans out of a 02 coupe and i have everything loose but the rod that the shifter connects to in the trans. can it be removed without removing the torque tube? the rod is up at the top and suppose to have a pin or something in it holding the shifter rod in the trans and thats the only thing keeping me from pulling it out. any help would be great

Rick

Disconnect the rod at the Shifter by loosing the clinch bolt. The rod pulls out of the tranny housing. Yes. There is a roll pin that connects the rod to the tranny and it can get tapped out with a pin punch. Once the tanny is out, remove the rod so that it is not damaged:

You can see the torx bolt in this picture:

You can "almost" see the hole in the shifter rod shaft on the tranny in this pic. Its on the top of the shaft:

Sounds like your working without a service manual. There are a few cautions in the procedure, that if ignored, will lead to certain damage....hopefully you are aware of them already.

I can't seem to find my service manual right now, but if the car is already wrecked......it won't matter.
