Backfire when Tranny Shifts
I have an 04 vert. I recently put a corsa pace car exhaust system with tigershark tips on my vette. Now when I take off quick the exhaust sounds like it backfires when it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. I don't know if this could be just the exhaust popping like I've heard the pace car system does of if it could be something else like an exhaust leak. What suggestions do you have?

Are you sure it's a backfire. A backfire would sound like a loud pop, almost like a gun shot. This is usually caused by unburned gas fumes making their way into your exhaust and then igniting. I doubt it's what you're hearing. I'm pretty sure you're hearing the gurgle between shifts which becomes more pronounced once you go to an aftermarket exhaust. This is usually remedied with an X-pipe. Did you install an x-pipe with your new exhaust?

It is a loud pop like a gun shot. My connections are all tight and I can't feel any exhaust coming from the fittings. How do you check if it is just in need of a tune due to the rev limiter, and no I have not put an xpipe on it yet but I will. Anybody got one?
