Default Horn wire routing - clock spring?

Hi - I'm having issues with my horn sounding while turning corners - can anyone confirm for me that the c5 horn wiring runs through the clock spring? I have found pics of red/black wires at the back of the airbag, but cant tell if they have their own connector, or if I should be ordering a new clockspring... anyone know?

ONLY the airbag connection goes through the "clock-spring" toroidal housing.

The horn is operated by a single hot lead that is grounded to sound the horn, just as most cars have for lots of decades...The rotation of that horn connection is accomplished by a fixed round contact ring mounted in the hub that a coil spring loaded wiper that pushes against it, to make electrical connection. If the insulation around the spring loaded wiper is bad, or , the wire that goes between the spring loaded contactor and the horn "button" contact has frayed insulation that can touch any metal part,or, if the contacts are falling apart and closing up the normal gap space, THEN the horn will sound....

LEAVE the donut shaped plastic housing with the clock spring inside ALONE, and also leave the wires that run to it and from it ALONE...Those are AIRBAG detonator system wires!!! BANG!

Many thanks Jennifer - that's what I suspected based on the pictures.
I guess I still have to (disconnect battery!) and remove the airbag/hub assembly to investigate, right?
