Trying to get my headliner out to recover it. Ive read all the search results on headliner removal and sun visor removal and my passenger side visor popped right out as advertised using the insert screw driver and rotate method. The drivers side however did not and now its so chewed up that the screw driver just slips right out of the slot. Anybody have any advice before I just start ripping things apart out of frustration??
If it's that chewed up, I'd try either a bigger screw driver or carefully with a pair of pliers..someone else may chime in with a better idea..sounds like you messed it up though. no pun intended just serious
well I finally went the logical route and broke out the service manual....turns out you have to rotate and pull down until you hear the "click" then you continue rotating while you push up....I knew I bought that thing for a reason
Do you know for sure they can be recovered? I've got issues with mine to, figured I'd do the Homelink mod at the same time, and somewhere along the way I seem to remember there being an issue with how the lighted vanity mirror is attached to the inner board. I think in a photo I saw the studs off the mirror basically got melted (on purpose) to where they go through the hardboard.
If you have to shave off those studs to get the mirror off, can you get them recovered and the mirror all put back in there?
just a thought, but why not leave the sunvisors as they are and just re-cover the headliner? even if the material has separated from the visors, they're so small, it probably won't be THAT noticeable...
