Went on their website, and did not see any info (other than seeing that use K&N filters now and offer the Recharging (cleaner and oil) kit. I will attempt to contact them.
I just thought that I would get a faster answer off the forum.
Bottom line is I will find out if there is any issue with using the K&N filter kit and oil (just oiled and installed it). Worst that can happen is I have to buy another filter...........I will keep an eye on the filter element (can see it through the lower radiator opening).
Callaway does not make it "easy" to contact them for tech questions, so I just "did it".
The cotton is different and I wouldn't use K&N products on it. The Green filter re-charge kit is available from a lot of place and if you can't find see greenfilterusa.com
Have an older Callaway Honker Filter on my 2003 C5.
It is a green filter that appears "washable" (it has "Callaway" molded in the rubber top / bottom seals, so it was specially made for Callaway).
I see that Callaway now uses K&N filters.
I am going to treat it like it is a K&N filter, and use the K&N cleaner and filter oil.
Anyone experience this older green filter and how did you clean and recharge it?
I can imagine that the red K&N filter oil on this green filter media is going to look pretty funky.......
Thanks,
Plasticman
I treated mine (green filter) just like a K&N filter and have not had any problems. I clean mine in a sink with about an inch of soap water. Let it soak for about ten minutes and rince. Repeat if needed. Let it dry over night and lighty spray with K&N filter oil. (follow instructions on can)
Had my Honker for about 4 years now and it's still good as new.

On top of each page in the Online Store there's a contact us link that goes to the Callaway phone no.
In the products section of the main site, there's a phone no at the bottom.
To answer your question, the K&N cleaner will work fine with the Green Filter element. The K&N oil is different than the Green supplied oil. Green told us to use ONLY their oil for maximum airflow and filtration. I don't think it was strictly to sell their oil.

MCV,
Thank you. I will have to find a source for the Green filter oil.
It is a shame, since I have a K&N filter on the 62 Corvette, and it sure is more convenient to only need one filter oil.........
And since the 62's filter is exposed, I am not changing it to a green filter element on a Honduras Maroon Vette!
I suppose I could purchase a K&N filter for the 03 Vette.....
Edit: I see that Green has Recharging kits on line (Thanks to the link that Hotwheels57 provided), and I will have to redo the Green filter with the correct oil.

I had installed three different CAI systems in the car, the last one being the Honker. I liked it so much I bought an extra filter (green) so that I can have one clean and ready and just swap them out. It actually takes some time to clean these filters due to the air drying requirement and neither K&N or Green recommends blowing air or hot air on their filter to hasten drying time.
It is interesting that Green does not have a problem with me using their oil on a K&N filter...........and they sell various color oils for that purpose (including purple, clear, yellow, orange, blue).
