Steering position Sensor
Thanks to all the experts that contribute to this forum..great information and guidance for DIY mechanics. I have been receiving Service active handling DTC codes for about 6 months now due to codes C1287 and C1288. I have read all the associated threads and am now preparing to replace the Steering Position Sensor but before ordering the part I do have one question to ask. I inspected the old sensor that is in place on my steering shaft and notice oil residue on the outside of the green casing. Does this indicate that my steering shaft bearing is also bad or is this normal for a 2001 vette with 90000 miles? If you think this indicates a bad bearing do I need special tools to make the repair? Thanks.
