Default Stuck in fourth....help me

When I'm driving the Vette sometimes it gets stuck in fourth gear. Does anyone know what the issue is? or approx how much it will cost?

My first guess is a sticking clutch, but need more info.
Stuck as in the shifter won't budge? When you are finally able to change gears is it speed or rpm related, random?

Yes the shifter won't budge. When I'm able to change the gears everything goes back to normal. It's only the fourth gear.

How do you get it back to normal? What do you do to duplicate this issue every time?

I can almost guarantee it's the broken 3-4 slider key (also known as synchro key). Unfortunately you have to disassemble the transmission to replace it. Call Rodney @ RPM (forum vendor) transmissions. They will take very good care of you!

On the left are the broken keys. On the right are the new ones. I recommend upgrading to the billet keys!

same thing happened to me! #4th gear gets the most abuse inside the t56 and they always break the slider keys. Make sure to get hardened billet keys

Yep. My synchro keys in 4th gear broke in June. Driving with new RPM Level V trans and new LS7 clutch. Drives like a dream now!
