OK - had a horn problem - found a bad ground under the air bag. Everything back together fine.
Horns work great now. BUT, after I reprogrammed the remotes I cannot get the passive entry to stop working. The thingy on the remote is in the off position on both remotes. Its a PIA - How can I stop them from reseting the alarm.
Could you describe the problem in a little more detail? Are you saying that if you exit the vehicle, do not lock the doors and walk away with the FOB, the alarm sets?
Yes, I go into the house - put the keys on the table - the alarm will unset or set - even walking away from it while we are out - before or after I set the alarm - or don't set the alarm. Its haunted!!!
Sometimes working the passive switch back and forth vigorously will clean the contact and restore function. If that doesn't work take the FOB apart and clean the contacts with contact cleaner or alcohol.
Inconsistent passive operation is also a symptom of a FOB that is getting ready to die. If the above doesn't work try replacing the battery. If you could borrow a FOB from a friend and program it for your car you could determine if the FOB is the problem.
Do the FOB's work normally other than the passive problem?
Well, cleaned remotes - New batteries - Reprogrammed both remotes - - STILL the same - Found a third remote - Programmed it - Still the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even while programming the car locks & unlocks by itself.
It is haunted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope - extra fob from the last owner - this never was a problem until I screwed with the horn (steering wheel connections) - but everything was done properly.
