I know...to each his own. I just saw a set on a coupe and the tips are totally out of perportion to the car. Anyone considering may want to see them installed before making the buy. They are huge and stick out the back a ways.
Well I hate the (IMO racist) Rice term, but your right, to each his own. Check my sig for the stinger pic. The only visual aspect I dont like is the huge void between the tips. I am curing this with a custom mirror finished chrome exhaust plate that will set right behind the tips and fill the entire void. Me and a buddy are making it in his machine shop.
Just a note...just because you dont like the visual of a mod, does not make it "rice" Some times the angle of these pics make the tips look bigger than they really are. In real life they are awsome and I have recieved nothing but comments. Don't get me wrong...I hope you guys dont buy this system because I love being original...Check my O.Z's...Only set on a Vette.
I think the tips look great. Rice is very misunderstood term. It it's most common usage people think it means doing anything out of the norm to a car. It's practical meaning evolved from the idea of Honda Civics et al putting 15" fart pipes on the back, decking them out with lawn chair spoilers and Si-Type Whatever badges to LOOK fast when in fact they're not ;), well most of them aren't. My usage of rice, and most others, is attempting to mock another car to "appear" faster. i.e. V6 Mustangs putting an entire Cobra body kit on them, badges, wheels and all. ;)
Anyway, the tips look great IMO. No rice at all, as C5's are surely fast ;)
I really like the system - so much that I am waiting (impatiently, I might add) for mine to add to my Z...
Looks GREAT and please post pics of your exhaust plate when done.
The wheels look
I love mine. They stick out exactly the same as my old Corsa Indy's and the space is not as wide as you would think with a two-tip system  And my rolled chrome exhaust plate looks fantastic under there. I am sorry that I have riced my 02 Vette but come and look at it in person and take a listen :yesnod: One thing is for sure...............To each his own. :seeya
No reason for a retraction. Everyone knows what the term "Rice" is used and what it's intention is/was. To take exception to this indicates to me that their sensitivity meter needs tweaking a bit. Let's try to stay focused on the topic, which was the tips on the stinger.
Re: Borla Stinger - Tips are Rice!!! (Mean Green 2000)
Ok, I blew the rice thing out of proportion...it isnt that serious. I got a 8rwhp gain from the stinger with only the Halltech bottom breather installed. Hopefully I will get a couple more from the exhaust with the introduction of headers and Xpipe:rolleyes: .
My custom exhaust plate will fill the entire area behind the tips. The plate will clamp to the piping right after the cannon tappers down. I haven't figured out what to engrave in the plate?? There is always the basic C5 emblem. Any ideas???
I will post pics when finished, and if not too time consuming maybe I'll make a few more for other stinger owners. Nate said he has some more Stingers in stock for those who like em
Roofless: I said It was only my opinion, sorry if you think I need some kind of tune-up.
