I haven't looked at my wipers, but, years ago when I worked in my dads body shop I use to put a screw driver on the one side , a cloth under the tip, and pry up on the side of the screwdriver while pulling up with my hand on the other side ( the arm side). Its really about getting equal pull on both sides.
Another option is to place a block of wood under the screwdriver and pry up on the edge while pulling up on the arm side. I've never had a wiper I could not pop off like this.

Here's the one out of the service manual. I'm sure you can get something like it at any auto parts store.
No, you can't. I looked at Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, Northern Tool, NAPA, Advance and Auto Zone. Every time I ask someone, I get a blank stare. I have concluded that they are a myth propagated by The Man, just to keep a brother down.

I saw a battery terminal puller the other day...while browsing in autozone....

every autozone that I've been to has these big "posters"...they're more like huge mouse pads with a lamination cover at a few of th....
nevermind just print these two pages and go back to autozone
More fun putting it back on - had to tighten UNREASONABLY TIGHT
Got the drivers side off with a large screwdriver and a block of wood. Was tight. Next fun thing was replacing it.
Tightened it as tight as I felt was necessary and tested the wipers. Seemed fine. NOT!!.
Next time I used the wipers the arm slipped with every sweep of the arm. Retightened it VERY TIGHT till I felt I would break something on the shaft. It finally didn't slip. Watch it. You may be in trouble here.
If you don't need to remove the arm DON'T.
There is one little trick I have seen done. I am not responsible for anything bad that happens for posting this either so be warned.
If you back the nut off jut a bit and then whack the post with a rubber mallet you can pop them free as well. They are wedged on there, popping the post drives the wedge out from under it. Miss and you break you windshield. I haven't done it, I have seen it done.

it's your car but I wouldn't use a hammer right around my windshield especially if you're recommending this to a first timer...the puller is FREE TO RENT @ autozone and that little battery terminal puller probably doesn't cost much more than a nice rubber mallet
I'm all about the "free" stuff but this could go bad..I don't think that post is designed to take much of an impact nor the wiper frame itself
this isn't a ball joint...the "shaft" that the nut goes onto isn't supposed to move down like that...by whacking the shaft, you're HOPING that some how the arm "jumps" up and off the shaft? Cause the shaft ain't gonna slide down much...

Like I said. You break your windshield if you miss.
I have seen it done by a mechanic, I have not done it. Some people dont have an autozone and I've seen the puller not work at all so take it for what its worth. I agree that it isnt a very good way to do it, but it does work. I've had not seen any adverse affects to the wiper system, but I have heard of broken windshields. I dont advocate this method, I've just seen it work more than once.
Added this: Personally I like to use the correct tool for the job, but I have seen some things done that would turn your hair white...LOL
I had a friend come over the other night to fix my taillight problem, who was a Chevrolet Tech until his dealer closed, and asked about my wipers not parking. He took off the 13mm nut, which was really rusted on, and just wiggled the arms up and down, keeping some upward pressure on them, and both came off with no puller. I will be putting some never seize on when I put them back on for sure.

I agree.I don't recall any difficulty just prying them off.
