Chatter Problem
I was driving down the road going about 70 mph in 6th gear. When I put it into 4th to pass someone it chattered like crazy and then accelerated like normal. It has happened before when down shifting to accelerate it does a slight chatter and drives fine. It does have a fairly new clutch a monster stage III so I don't think it's slipping. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I think we are going to need more info. Is there a noise that is associated with this? Is the chattering happening as you let the clutch out, or after wards and when you are trying to accelerate? Has the clutch been broken in correctly? Give us more info and one of the guys will be able to help.

There is no noise when it happens and the chattering happens after I let out the clutch and start to accelerate. I had the same problem with my last clutch but it was going bad so I thought that was part of the problem.

Have to drop the torque tube to check. If its really bad you'll be able to flex the input shaft up and down a good bit. Its usually the front one that gives up the ghost. To check further you have to actually disassemble the torque tube.
