Default Cam and Pushrod Length?

I'm installing a MS3 cam with .600 in. lift with stock heads
on my 04Z. I know I will have to change valve springs and
pushrods. Do I use the stock length 7.40 in. or do I need some
other length? Can't find the base circle for the cams and on the
LS6 cams, to get the higher lift they reduced the base circle and
used a longer valve to keep the stock length at 7.40 in.

I know I can measure this, but this is my DD and I would like to
have them on hand to keep down time at minimum,
Anyone have any info on this?

I will probably do heads/manifold/tb in the future.

Thanks,
Larry

Stock length is actually 7.385" gauge length when I measured them. Internet says 7.400" because it is the closest nominal aftermarket length and the additional 0.015" length makes up for some of the reduced base circle. If you don't want to measure then you can go with 7.400" but you may end up with two sets of pushrods later.

I would think a 7.400 would be what you need. I would buy them and the length checker and just measure when you do the install. That would be your best odds of ordering the right part and knowing that it is indeed the right length. If for some reason it is wrong and you need something else, we'd be happy to swap them for whatever you need.

Thanks for the replies. I've found the base circle for a stock 2002+ Z06 (.748") and measured the MS3(.7172" and .7143")
The MS3 and is smaller for the higher lift. It figures out to use the stock 7.400" pushrods.

Jon, I will contact you when I get ready for the install
parts.

We use 7.400" for most cam only applications. I see that you're local to us. We keep 7.375", 7.400", and 7.425" in stock if you need a set.
